Be Involved

One of the questions we’re asked most frequently by parents and community members is how they can get involved. This is important, because parent and community involvement—besides being a personally rewarding experience—solidifies our connections as a community and enhances student success.

At home, there are many things parents/guardians can do to contribute to the success of their children. We encourage you to:

  • Make sure your child has a wholesome breakfast
  • Pack a nutritious lunch
  • Assure your child’s prompt and regular attendance
  • Call the school if your child will be absent or tardy
  • Communicate with the educators and students about homework
  • Set a schedule at home to allow your child to complete homework
  • Read aloud to your child for at least 20 minutes a day, and/or provide an opportunity for your child to read on his/her own
  • Attend conferences with your child’s teacher

We also urge you to become as active as possible in the life of the school by volunteering. Please contact your child’s teacher to find out how you can help in the classroom.

If you’re a community member hoping to volunteer, we welcome you as well! Give us a call, and we’ll be happy to find just the right place for you.
