Our School Board

Our board consists of up to seven board members who volunteer their time and talents in service of our school. The school director serves on the board in an advisory, non-voting position, and one full-time teacher serves on the board with an optional rotating term. We hold school board elections during the month of April.

The board meets on a regular basis to discuss policies, allocate the budget, and review other matters pertaining to the operation of the school. You’re welcome to view the information about upcoming meetings, as well as the minutes from past meetings, posted on this page.

Board Meeting Dates

The Birch Grove Community School board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Meeting dates are subject to change. Any rescheduled board meetings will be posted at Birch Grove Community School, the school website, and in the weekly newsletter.

School Board Elections

Elections are held at the April school board meeting, with terms beginning July 1. School board members are elected for three-year staggered terms.
The next election: April 2026

Seats Up for Re-Election:

Mary VanDoren ~ My siblings and I attended Birch Grove. My children attended Birch Grove and now some of my grandchildren do. No matter what board or what capacity, I will always fight for the West End, and Birch Grove is the heart of the West End.

Judy Motschenbacher ~ I was on the start-up school board when Birch Grove Community School first came to be and have served on the board since then. I am passionate about Birch Grove and will continue to serve faithfully as a school board member.
